How do I change Rows and Columns in Explorer View?

This webpage allows you to slice and dice your search results to already determine certain answers to your research purpose.

1 For example, to know the number of DNA binding sequences that are similar to cancer and

2 have some known cellular component ontology, simply search:

4 On Home page, search “similar cancer”

6 On Quick Filter page, in High Level Ontology select “unknown”

9 On Explorer View, in the buttons, select

10 Rows as “Go Definition” and

11 Columns as “Gene Ontology”

If we compare with other pages, the additional panel in this view contains the buttons “Rows”, “Columns”, “Download” and “No Filter”. The total number of search results after the latest filtering is displayed on the far right.

Both “Rows” and “Columns” currently allow you to choose at least one field and at most three fields respectively that can describe your table of records.

The list of domains to choose from is mostly the same as that described in the List View:

  1. Data Source: Database which contains this information

  2. Sequence Type: Either of DNA/RNA/AA

  3. Gene Ontology (PFC): General definition of what aspects this sequence affects in the organism [biological process/molecular function/cellular component]

  4. Taxonomy

  5. Top concepts

  6. CATH Topology

  7. High Level Topology

You can choose multiple rows and multiple columns to find the common data points among the chosen attributes.

1 For example, you can choose rows “Data Source” and “Top concepts” and

2 the column “Sequence type”. If you select a couple of these records by simply clicking on them,

3 you will be able to operate on just those records. See image below for reference.
